I do weekly counts of the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Little Corella, Australian White Ibis, and Straw-necked Ibises that roost there. It had never occurred to me that it could be orchid habitat but will definitely keep my eye out from now on.
I had a look this afternoon- there are 2 semi-distinct patches totaling well over 100 plants. Unfortunately the illegal dirt tracks and mounds through here get high use by BMXing teens. I put in a complaint and the mounds across the bike path where the roost is were bulldozed- and the area is regenerating well but the BMXers seemed to have just moved across to the pre-existing although not as good tracks on this half.
Thanks Ryu there is a proposal to create a water quality improvement wetland between the regenerating woodland and the play equipment in weathers street. Am interested in your roosting count figures and the trees that are mainly used.
