No, there aren't any bipinnate leaves on it. Actually I had another look and it is a large tree that has blown over recently. It was probably 6-8m high when it stood upright. Does A. rubida lose the bipinnate leaves at that age? The upper branches were certainly intensely red.

Silke, A. rubida can grow large however I haven't seen one taller than 3m on Mt Majura. The only other wattle species that i know of Mts Majura/Ainslie that looks similar to A. rubida (shape of phyllode and one main middle vein, globular flower-heads in racemes) and that flowers around this time of the year is the Golden Wattle A pycnantha, a garden escape.

Oups, somehow I mixed the common names up - i'm currently removing lots of exotic Sydney Golden Wattle, Acacia longifolia which is the exotic and looks very different to A pycantha. Sorry for the confusion.
