The leaves look like a species of Cupressus. However the 'fruiting bodies' do not. Galls?

It is a young Cupressus but I am not sure which species. I think they are immature cones. Unfortunately I filled my memory card and didn't get a close-up.

I am basing this on the general appearance (habit) and the arrangement of the leaves - opposite each other in pairs at right angles. I am pretty sure the 'fruit' are galls.

I wasn't aware of the change of genus, though I see some States stick with the old name. I am beginning to realise what botanists do on rainy days :-)

Michael Mulvaney, when you have dealt with synonyms of fungi, you could figure out how to treat the synonyms Hesperocyparis macrocarpa and Cupressus macrocarpa. I have one of each in Canberra Nature Map. The Atlas of Living Australia has Hesperocyparis as the accepted name. The ACT Plant Census does not have this species, but has Cupressus arizonica in the 2008 version changed to Hesperocyparis arizonica in the 2012 version. NSW PlantNET Flora Online has only Cupressus lusitanica in the genus.
