Growing on old pine log placed with other logs to provide habitat for insects and small animals.

Out of focus with this one is not a problem. If it's brown to orange brown, with irregular to broken gills and on coniferous wood (and with a corky rather then fleshy texture, admittedly something you can't tell from a photo!) it's Gloeophyllum and there may be two species of the genus in the ACT.
