Roy, It is quite a distinct pattern and colouring on its back; check it with other photos of this species. It would have been nice to also see the pattern on its side. GeoffR

Hi Geoff, John and others. We should reconsider this id. This skink appears to be an Acritoscincus duperreyi. Here is my reasoning: It looks very like an A. duperreyi. The mid vertebral dark stripe is not bounded by white as it is C. robustus and from what I can see there are no pale dots on the broad dark dorso-lateral stripe - they would be pretty obvious if it was C. robustus. I must admit it is difficult to be sure with such an obscure image, but based on Will's comments and a closer look at the beast I am prepared to agree it looks more like duperreyi and am happy to call it that.
