There were a lot of dianella revoluta in the area, but their flower stems are much thinner and just a straight stem. The seed head does not seem right for D. revoluta either as it is usually an open branching spray of berries. I was not totally sure if this was a flower head in bud or a seed head, but probably the latter.

No species of Dianella has big bracts along the stems like your photo. I suspect it is Stypandra glauca in bud, which does. Have another look in a week or two.

I will recheck in a couple of weeks, but I think the leaves are are thicker and fleshier than those of stypandra. I was wondering if it could be a dianella longifolia as I founda picture of this species with a thick stem and bracts similar to the ones in the photo.

The flower head now looks much more like a dianella, but it is still not properly in flower. The leaves are much longer and thicker than a D. revoluta.

This is the same plant that has been confirmed as Dianella tasmanica in later sightings
