Large population of this nationally endangered plant

Author's notes

The lake was full on this occasion after a couple of wet years, and the band of usable habitat consequently narrower. However, plants were seen running a few metres upslope of the high water mark into the grassland, but mainly where a large amount of surface rock helped to suppress the grass and prevent a dense sward. It looks like the Pelargonium is not keen on competition. I have checked right around the lake shore, and it only occurs on the northern side, which is on basalt and not the southern which is on granite.
